First tractor owner L3000DT, 3 point hitch surging

First tractor owner, 2001 Kubota L3000DT

My three point hitch is surging in any up position, won't hold implement up unless completely close the "3 point hitch lowering speed knob". The surging seems to be the hitch trying to keep the implement up, but can't because of a loss of pressure. Anyone have any info on how to fix.

If you have hyd outlets on the tractor, make sure the control valve(s) are in the neutral position and not stuck open. Also check the FEL control valves if the tractor is equipped with one. A stuck valve can cause a loss of pressure through the hyd relief valve.

Also check the hyd oil level, it could be low enough it lifts the arms and then pumps air so they drop. Unless you know it has been done consider changing the hyd oil and filters for could be issue there. If it works fine when cold and first cranked it could be getting air in the system (probably the suction side) or has water in the oil as it heats up it gets worse. kt

No problems with FEL, all fluids at prescribed levels. The surging takes place whether at first crank or after hours of use. Is there any kind of alignment or adjustment that would cause this?

Most likely a leaking seal in the three point lift cylinder. Cylinder leaks down and three point position control tries to hold position so it constantly cycles.
