KIOTI DK40(2002)) Jacobsen 628D AWD Turfcat
Well my DK 40 got it's first taste of Pennzoil and it seems to like it.
The manual says the first change is due at 35 hours.
My question is this, since I changed it at 34.7 hours do you think I will have a spoiled tractor??.........Mike

YES YES!! Most definitely. It will not want to ever do anything again unless you pamper it 0.3 hours early. It will probably grow up with an attitude.

Northcreek,
My DK40 has about 42 hours I thought the first service was at 50.I've been thinking of calling the dealer soon to set it up.Did I wait too long?

I'm due for my 50 hour service on my 3054. I called the dealer to get a clarification on the transmission/hydraulic filter and the first words out of his mouth were to ignore the manual. When is Kioti going to get their act together on their owners manuals??? Bad spelling, terrible grammar and just bad directions. They have been selling these tractors in the states long enough to have gotten this fixed by now. I have read other post on TBN by our "American" tractor cousins and this subject is of great humor to them. It gives Kioti a blackeye for what we all know is a great tractor.

Just my .02 worth, Jeff

Ignore the manual how? Don't do the maintenance or Don't follow the directions how to do it. I am approaching my 50 hr service as well and am un-clear on what to do about the transmission/hydraulic filter.

mtd,
I called my dealer this morning to schedule my 50 hour service. He said the hydraulic service was at either 100 or 200 hours. Sorry I can't remember which.

I talked to my dealer about my 50 hour hydraulic oil and filter change.
He said that Kioti tells him 100 hours for the first hydrualic change and every 3oo hours after that.
So I will do my first hydraulic change at 100 hours..

Radar54,I don't know if you read my post a while back on Kioti's goofy manuals, basically in agreement with you 100%.
I did contact Kioti customer service(they are great)and expressed my concerns re: the sloppy work of their printed material.........hell,the first page of my tiller manual adresses me as the new owner of their fine mower, you would think they would proof read this stuff after translation.
Anyway they did respond and said they would pass my comments on to their service manager.
I don't know if anyone noticed, but their instructions for engaging the fwd is reversed........that's dangerous and in a court of law neglegent......Mike

If you read the manual it says to change the trans/hyd. filter. It is a permanent filter with a magnet inside to catch metal particles. Also, the oil specs they recommend do not exist. Just got home from the farm after bushhogging all day. Changed my trans/hyd fluids and cleaned the filter at lunch with 57 hours on the clock. Kioti calls for the first service at 50 and every 300 after that. Someone said they were going to wait to 100 hours, bad idea. My oil was trashed, with lots of metal flakes, which I'm not sure is good or bad. I'll talk to my dealer tommorrow. If you pull the filter to clean it watch for a small o-ring that is part of the filter assembly. It is used to hold the magnet up in the housing while you fit the filter cup up and screw this together. I was going nuts when I found the o-ring in the bottom of the oil pan. I used a premium fluid sold by Rural King that sold for 17.99 for 5 gallons. Keep in mind for those with 3054s or smaller that a 5 gallon bucket doesn't fit between the seat and the gear shift to fill the tranny( guess why I say that). Remember to let the tractor idle for several minutes after changing before jumping in the seat to take off.

Someone should tell Kioti customer service that they should follow the postings here. I have put my dealer ( O'Bryans, Owensboro, KY) in touch with this group. I will always follow up the manual with a call to the dealer. You just can't trust what you read and John Lampkins is first class with customer service.
