First Choice vs. Land Pride

First Choice vs. King Kutter is not a really great match up. King Kutter makes good stuff but I think a better challenge is against Land Pride.

I am going to purchase a rototiller 48-60” for a Kubota L3010 in January 2003. I have a Land Pride rotary mower and it has performed flawlessly. The First Choice National Sales manger has also contacted me and he had provided me with courteous and helpful recommendations. There is also a good chance that the dealer who sold me my package may start to support the First Choice product line if it makes good business sense. Obviously my dealer is first rate.

My application is light duty, but 100% performance requirement. I have little time off and my equipment must always work. When I am not working my equipment very hard I am meticulously maintaining them. My machines are spoiled (just like my wife, son, dog…)

What are your opinions of First Choice rototiller vs. Land Pride in the 48-60 inch size?

My guess is it would depend on what duty series you're considering w/the Landpride. Landpride makes awesome implements that are very heavy. I have always judged implements by their weight, the heaviest wins hands down.

The First Choice tillers are made by Sicma, a well known Italian company. I bought the RT-04 series, but they make heavier units as well. I've seen a lot of old Sicma tillers that people have been using for many years, so I think it is a reliable brand.I once rented a tiller which used a breakaway pin rather than a clutch to disengage the tiller if you hit something hard - what a pain in the neck. The First Choice tiller has a PTO clutch and looks very well made to me, but I've never seen or used a Land Pride unit.

I have a First Choice 60". Built like a rock. Some of the powder coat had bubbled off before it was delivered - tried painting over them, but there are some rusty spots already. BUT! It does what it was built to do, and even significant buried tree roots and stones don't slow it down. A couple passes on soil that is dense and not been worked in decades produces great results. Tines have not chunked or bent. I am *very* happy with it.
