Hillbilly, We for sure had a fire, but I do think the northern lights are one of the most (as my daughter says) awsome things I have ever seen.
SHF, You went through alot more than I did! Had to make for a high stress day. The fellows working the fire near us were able to keep things undercontrol prettty well. It seemed like a big deal to me, but I think it was just another day at the office for them.
As Robert has pointed out a number of times, I think keeping a cleared area around your structures is the thing you learn after a fire has gotten close to you. Unless you have been up close it is hard to understand how fast a fire can move.
