Snow Equipment Owning/Operating Finnish operation techniques

/ Finnish operation techniques #2
Reminds me of when I was kid about 50 years ago. When driving in town and the streets were snow covered and slippery. Kids would wait at the stop signs, once you stopped and started to take off they would run out and grab onto the car bumper and get pulled along by the car. Back then some people would slam on the brake and that would shake em off. I think the object was to see who would hold on the longest.

When I was younger we did this with ATV's snowmobiles and in the summer used a skate boards and motorcycle. It was dangerous and not all that smart but IT SURE WAS FUN. In all honesty it's probably not any more dangerous then skydiving or bungee jumping

We used to call what Wedge described "skitching". For us East Coast kids it was our version of "hang ten". Worked best with the older cars that had a separate, steel rear bumper (and RWD). I remember piling into one of the "older guys" Torino - he had a license - and going to an empty strip mall where you could drift a good sized oval until we found the curb under a snow bank.

Still pretty common up here in rear wheel driven cars/trucks to do doughnuts in parking lots ... so long as there isn't anyone else (or lamp posts) its pretty safe ... not much risk of rolling

In a tractor I'd be more concerned with wearing the tires ha ... but I'd imagine the risk of tipping is pretty high too eh? Never slipped that much in a tractor so not too sure?

Yah, we used to practice controlled skids as youthful drivers. Makes for nice square corners, eh? :D

Hehe ya, crank the wheel and gun the engine until the car straightens up around the corner
