Finishing backhoe build need hydraulic fluid advice

I am finishing my towable backhoe build and need some hydraulic fluid advice. I don't know much about hydraulic fluid (or much else for that matter) but am doing my research. As my project doesn't come with "directions" I don't have a recommended fluid. My project utilizes a 6-10 GPM gear pump to run 8 double action cylinders out of a 15 gallon tank.

Thoughts?

My PowerTrac PT425 uses 10W40 motor oil for hydraulics. My old IH2500b used a universal hydraulic fluid. I'd guess you should first see what you pump manufacturer recommends, though.

It is a Dynamic Gear Pump the only thing the website says is Oil Viscosity 6-200cSt and ambient tempature -8 F to 130 F

I would recommend a hydraulic fluid with ISO 46 viscosity. Most of your universal hydraulic - transmission fluids today will meet that spec.

Reason for hydraulic fluid is that they contain anti-foam & anti-wear additives designed for hydraulic components.
