Finding used tractors?

I just missed a '90 Kubota F2400 with 6' mower deck AND front-mount blower (air, not snow) for $1700 earlier this week. Grrrr.... THAT I really wanted. I got a reply from that seller, at least, but was just a hair too slow on the draw.

Hey, you are still in luck .......the one with no mower deck or blower , with the blown engine is still available confused2 for three grand ! :laughing:

I've found plenty of good deals on CL, but like has already been said ...... you gotta have cash in hand and be there within hours, not days.

I do not think all people are geared to buy all of CL or Ebay. You really have to be able to make a decision in the first 5 minutes. Now you do not have to fork over the money in 5 minutes but if your mental answer is YES after 5 minutes then you can spend the next 25 minutes finding reasons to turn your answer into a NO. If 30 minutes after you arrive the answer is still yes then do the deal.

Like on the MH story we were able to buy it for $4K under high retail and high retail was the asking price of other ads. Good tires and a remanufactured transmission helped a lot on a 15 year old vehicle with 91K miles. Another plus was it had been used and maintained on a annual bases. The kids were 9 and asked specifically for a MH after seeing one in a parking lot one day. If it had turned out not to be worth fixing up I had planned to park it and let the kids use it more for a club house with lights.

The seller said then next day (Sunday) three people called beginning him to show them the MH but he would not because he had my $1000 personal check and knew I understood it was an As Is sell and that I would never be back and could work through any issues on my own.

I did ask him some history question a few weeks later and he told me he had 20 calls wanting to come and see it.

Now if you really find a tractor like you want I suggest you not fight over the last $500 or $1000 if it is a $5000 item. It can be fun running all over the country looking at equipment but it is not cheap these days.

No I do not buy everything (just most everything) I go see but never go see something knowing I am not willing to pay the seller's lowest price we discussed over the phone.
