We found out on our closing date that we had to redo the contract completely. That sucked! They did the wrong VA forms so had to start over. VA is picky, especially when it's a farm.

When we finally had everything done the previous owner had some health problems and wasn't able to leave. We were at the end of a lease on our old house and barely made it out before getting stuck for another month. It all ended up ok in the end. It will for you too.

We purchase a Kubota B26 in the end of 2007 thinking we were going to begin the build of our earth shelter home much sooner. Since the dollar has taken a massive beating we are looking for ways to save on building materials. Good luck with your new construction. Sam[/QUOTE said:
Look into Tire House construction. It is made of bales from compressed tires. Looks pretty impressive.

Ron,

Thanks for the positive thoughts.

We have decided to drop the design to 5 modules to save money. We closed on the land and broke ground last weekend. We worked on the existing road with our box rake and began making a new driveway to the home site.

Hey Fhyoungin,
Only a week away. Are ya getting excited? I hope there's been no more delays for you. I remember it was about a year ago when we bought our place here. I was wound tighter than a drum. Couldn't wait to get out on the land and look around.

yeah, i'm chomping at the bit to get out there and get started....

but, i'm also nervous as to signing my life away! remember that commercial, "i'm in debt up to my eyeballs.." we aren't really up to our eyeballs, but i'm pretty frugal and it sure feels like we are.....

we've been on this a long time, the thing that stinks is that the leaves will reach their peak this weekend.......so it'll look like a wasteland and i won't know which trees to cut and which ones not to......oh well, it's been growing up for 50 years, what's another year....

i even took a personal day for the friday after we close.......i'm gonna go out there early in the morning and work about all day......if i'm not so excited that i forget, i'll take a lot of pics! i really need to make an effort because a few years from now, i'll want to see before and after shots....

the title work came back ok and so did the appraisal....so it looks to be a go, still, for this wednesday...

i'll keep ya'll updated!:D

Actually, most closings I have been to are just a signature drill. You sign so many pieces of paper that you feel like a celebrity signing autographs. Good luck with your closing.:)

dont forget the last min check you have to bring because SOMETHING didnt get added right.

bought-sold-bought-refinaced and on all 4 there was always a minor fee of 40-$200 that was calculated wrong.
