I also have this same set up; Kubota 2660 with a front snow blower (minus the wings of course) and I'm trading my unit for a couple of reasons.
- Blower unit can get bogged down in heavy wet snow, Unless your pushing cold light snow (where it does a great job) I'd would suspect that the wings might add to the capacity problem, at least where I live.
- The progress can be slow if there is a volume of snow. The machine has more than sufficient power but my blower unit can break shear bolts (on pavement) if you don't take your time.
- Changing shear bolts on the impeller shaft can be a frustrating experience in this sized blower unit, as you have very little room to work.
- The after market Curtis cab is very noisy. Have to wear ear protection at all times.
- Having said all that, I have never had a traction problem, with or without a ballast box....but the duelly wheels sure do look cool. You look like you could be on a ski resort!
I will miss my 2660, as we have worked through a bunch of wicked storms together. She was my first tractor. My new rig arrived at the dealer last week (picking her up tomorrow). I am trading the
BX2660 on an
L4240 with a factory cab. This time I've decided to add the blower on the back with a plow on the front. The aim is to plow, then blow it where I want it. This will allow me to use the tractor even if it's slushy. We all know blowers are not fans of slush.
Sadly, I will likely have to wait until next winter to try out my new
L4240. I will post pics once she's delivered. pat
