Try it with the blade behind you, with it on the ground for trenching. Seems more stable to me. In front for lifting or pulling hard (stumps) or BIG rocks.

If you like digging after dark I highly suggest an extra light. I have a KX91 and put a 24" light bar on the underside of the cab roof - less than $50 buck in the entire thing including the factory wiring harness tap in. Between the light bar and the factory "arm" light it is unreal how well it lights up the work area. The light bar really helps give you a full view.

The machine was worked in sandy ground where it came from. Nothing sandy where I'm at, what you have looks about right for here.
