Kubota b2400 SOLD. Now a Massey Ferguson 285 SOLD. Now a Kubota 50HP
I have a Kubota B2400. I am looking for a new filter, but I'm hoping for finer than the Kubota stock filters. Can anybody tell me if they exist, and how to get one if they do?

Thanks

I am curious why you want a finer filter. You could easily get a restriction and what would you gain?

It's a hydrostatic drive, and tolerences on hydraulics is pretty tight... I prefer to reduce the wear. Cheap insurance. Also, since the filter is on the return side, I'm not overly worried about restrictions. I'd rather change filters more frequently.

Kinda like the fuel injectors on new diesel trucks... Dodge puts in a 7 or 8 micron filter, Bosch recommends less than 5 microns... Dodge ones will usually get your injectors past the warranty period. Usually...

If you want to keep the system clean, it helps to put clean oil in to begin with. Most people do not realize that bulk oil is not very clean. I have personally seen numerous totes and 55 gallon drums from reputable sources like Mobil and Petro Canada with particles that I could easily see from 6ft away with a flashlight. The cleanliness of 5 gallon pails and 2.5 gallon jugs would depend on the source - many distributors will fill them from a tote! This is why I filter all my oil down to 3um before use with a filter cart.

As far as your filter question goes, is it a spin on or cartridge? Some measurements and a picture would help.

If you are that worried about it you could put a bypass set-up on the cooler line. I would probably put it on the the cooler feed line so you don't blow the cooler due to the extra back pressure. But you need to make sure the filter can handle the pressure.

Yup. I know about bulk oil. I like the bypass filter idea. I'll have to get the other info when I get out of work here. I'm in a camp until next Tuesday.

I was thinking about this and it hit me.....plumb the bypass filter in parallel with the cooler. The cooler will provide enough pressure drop so some oil will flow through the filter. Just keep the filter fittings on the small side since this flow will be taking away a little of your cooling capacity.
