Filling pool

I would have to agree with Valley, Turn your water on and fill it from your well,as long as you have a good supply of water in it. At the park that I used to work we had a big pool (600,000 Gallons) that we filled off of a well. It took 3 or 4 days to fill. You can adjust your pool water balance even if it is hard. Talk to your pool company.

I agree with the fire department idea. We installed in-ground pools for 5 years. We always tried to talk to the fire department. After we had done business with the same department a few times, they would, for a charge, loan us a hose and a wrench to connect to a hydrant. This was in the late 70's and early 80's. The charge at that time was from $100 to $200.

The rural fire department here will fill a pool with their tanker for a $20-$50 "donation".

I'm not a pool person, yet, but I have family and friends with many some have the folks haul in water in the milk truck looking things but many just toss in the water hose from their house when on public water and let her rip.

In my case we use 4000 gallons a month in the summer and our water bill is around $40 (no sewer where I live). So, for 3000 gallons that's what I'd do and eaiser, cheaper and faster than hauling too.

If on public water and sewer, make note of the number on the meter before and after filling your pool and call your water company with those numbers. That way you wont be charged for sewer fees on that water (or at least that is how it worked in GA). Also, if you have a pressure regulator the for the water, see if you have a outlet before it, if you can connect a hose BEFORE the pressure regulator the pool will fill noticeably faster (also good for watering the lawn with multiple sprinklers).
