Filling back tires with water?

How exactly do yall fill the back tires with ballast, what kind of hookups do I need?

I've got a drill driven pump, two pieces of garden hose, and an adapter that screws into the valve stem.. works well. You jack up a rear wheel, drain the air out of the tube/tire, then remove the valve stem core (if it has a tube, the whole centre part including the core will come out, leaving a larger hole for the water to go in. Screw in the adapter on one of the hoses, and you're ready to go. I built my own adapter, they should be available commercially too.

Rotate the tire so the valve stem is at 12 o'clock, then start pumping water in. You'll have to stop a few times to bleed excess air out, simply unscrew the hose from the pump, or the adapter from the tube, and let the air out, then keep pumping water in. Once you start having water coming out the valve stem, the tire is at 75% full (to the 12 o'clock position of the valve stem anyway), then top it up with air to the pressure you want. Mine takes about 20-25 gallons of water (or whatever fluid you're adding) per tire.

I went the simple route.
took a garne hose end and a few scraps of different size hose and got it reduced down to a small enough hose that it will fit inside the valve stem and allow air to pass out by. then rotatet to 12 oclock insert the hose and let it run till it flows out. then put the stem back in and air it up..
Way to simple.

tractor supply sells the hose adapter. it is cheap. I pumped a water/antifreeze mixture from a large drum. It's easy, just takes time.

If you live anywhere where it freezes you need to put in a solution that wont freeze or it will get ugly if it does and tires aint cheap. I am not sure what they mix with the water but where I live it gets to -40 and my tires don't freeze not that I run the old girl at -40.

I use the antifreeze made for RV potable water systems in my tires, It is noncorrosive and if you puncture the tire it will not poison your pets.:licking:

A good thought any idea as to its rating for temperature?

It has been awhile but if I remember right it had a chart on the jug.
If not take a gallon can fill it half full of water and add 1 ounce of fluid to it and put it in the freezer, keep adding some till it don't freeze. You then got the ratio. You need to note the temp of your freezer also.

The bottle will say "burst protection", not freeze protection. Sub-zero temps will cause it to freeze.
