They are called Fllberts here on the West Coast. I almost, want to call them Subdivision trees. 
Sorry, but whilst the link does show the origins of the word, I can assure you that all three words are indeed in modern usage. As I posted, Google the 3 words and you will find them all used by numerous sites.Origin of the names, not modern usage:

Hmmm, the plot thickens. My googlefu isn't as good as some of you all.
Has anybody seen a red leaf filbert? I think they are kind of unusual looking, they have reddish nuts too.
