have a few questions if i can get pics to post. 1) i was hoping some one could verify this is a 1700BD. I know its in the 1700 series after looking at serial number. looks different from other 1700D's. It has the gauge cluster&standard manual shift. 2) it looks like there is some front end oil leaking out of this area. I am hoping this is a overflow. I've been working it pretty hard lately.3)last question. I was looking at possibly putting a pre air filter on. I found this set up here on tbn. was thinking about something similar maybe using a LARGE K&N cone filter and large radiator hose. Will this restrict air flow too much when used in conjunction with stock filter? i also posted on the Hoye tech site. im on a fact finding mission

thanks to all for your assistance

I have a YM1700 and it looks different that yours. I believe it is in fact a YM1700BD. There should be a tag on the left side of the engine identifying the model number. Mine has 2TR17 which identifies it a an 2 cylinder tractor with 17 PTO hourse power. Hopefully, one of the guys that have seen one will chime in.

I can't tell about the hose. Mine has a crankcase vent hose that hangs down like that.

yeah. mine has the same on the vin plate or SN plate. Like i said im pretty sure its in the 1700 category. One time i asked at my dealer and they weren't sure. All they could tell me was it was a 1700. my knowledge is pretty limited even though i've been askin questions on here for while. I wanted to make sure what mod it is so i can give that info when i buy filters and and a few odds&ends for winter work

no doubt about it being a BD model. "D" means 4WD. Extended fenders, nice seat, automotive type dash, more foot room, etc. makes a "B" series.

if you enlarge the picture of the front end there is some 4wd gear oil (pretty dirty i should add)leaking. is this an overflow or is it an issue i need to address? also any mechanic types out there i was wondering if i used something like the picture on the right of the air filter if i used a large K&N filter in conjunction with the stock air filter if it would restrict air flow too much. May be the only way to tell is to try it and listen but i was hoping for some feedback before i go out and buy the materials. Thanks again for all yall's help
