A neighbor is offering to sell me a JD 5310 tractor (55hp, 2WD) with a 520 loader. He's also including a box blade with the deal. Additionally, the loader has both the bucket and a hay spear that you can change out with.

The tractor only has around 200 hours and has been used only to carry around bales of hay. I haven't looked at it yet but he says it looks like a brand new tractor. The tires still look brand new.

He's offering it for $20,000. Do ya'll think that's a good deal?

My other question is: will this tractor fit my category I implements? Will it fit both Cat I and Cat II implements? Specifically, I want it for doing hay baling, so I need it to work with my 3 point hookup NH 451 sickle mower.

It will run your sickle bar, you may have to use bushings to get to Cat 1 size. Sounds like practically a new tractor. I had to replace the fuel lines on our 5420 which now has about 470 hours. If the tractor is clean, it should be worth about that much. I prefer the MFWD for loader work.
