i'm in the market for a ztr mower for residential use, i think i'm going to buy the ferris is1500z. good prices on both the 44" deck with 19hp kawasaki and the 48" with 21hp kaw. anyone out there know if these decks are offset (i.e. is there any overhang on the left side for trimming close to trees, flowerbeds, etc.)? is there a major difference between the two? (i don't really want to step up to the 52" deck, or i'll need to redo the fence gates).

I have recently purchased the Simplicity Citation which is a cousin to the Ferris 1500. Simplicity bought Ferris in 2004 and these two units share most features, major difference is the engines and Simplicity doesn't use the front shocks. Anyway as for overhang, there is a slight over hang on the 48" cut, per my measurement it's 3 inches on the side opposite the chute.

I have allot of trees and on the ones with no lower branches I can cut right up to them, I also have fencing etc..., and it cuts my weeding eating in half.
