Phred, I think (pretty sure) that he meant to put it in its highest gear, with the engine running, and see that it has enough power to take off from a stand still in that gear.

Phred. Bird was right, I did mean put the tractor in high gear, and see if the engine has enough power to move the tractor. It is just a quick way to find out if the engine is worn out (tired). Sorry for any confusion.
