The others hit the correct answers.
fergy's are draft only.. all the way up is transport.. anything down from that is a draft setting. Get yourself a set of 27$ limit chains.. or build yourself a set.. they will control the max drop on the lift.. works great for mowing.
Also.. prime leak points for the internals are the hyd pistons, next would be the check/relief valve.. next is the cyl to top cover gaskets.. then top cover gasket.. then bottom cover gasket, then pump chamber gaskets.. If it ever had water in it that froze, not uncommon to see cracked pump casings. Lastly it could be a pinhole leak in the hyd standpipe.. that's pretty rare.. I've only seen it once.
Pull an inspection cover.. look in with a flashlight.. leaks from the cyl mount indicates you need to get a new piston / rings ( or oring ) leaks from above the cyl are from gaskets.. side sprays or leaks are top/bottom gaskets / standpipe. Swirls inthe oil could be check valve or pump chamber gaskets.. or cracked pump.
60% of the time or better.. it is a worn cyl/piston.
Not a hard job... figure less than 100$ in parts if nothing is broke.. and you renew all gaskets, replace check valve, and repalce piston/rings and hone old cyl. Figure 200$ if you have to replace the cyl along with the other stuff.
Figure about 8 hrs to tear down unit and remove top cover, pull pto shaft, and drop pump.. clean parts and sump.. reseal, reinstall all parts. Get the approprite I&T manual. I did this job on my 8n a few years back.. not hard.. just messy.. pump setup and control valve linkage is a tad different on an 8n.. but is near identical on the 9n/2n... and would be a similar job.. etc
