don't suppose warranty included the upcoming oil change or at least filter/fluids does it?
good to hear its back.

Great to hear it all worked out. It looks like it took 1 month, pretty much to the day. Not bad, all things considered.

Actually, it did. I got a new oil filter, fresh oil, and fresh antifreeze, all at no charge.

cool :)
know what you are gonna be doing in about 49 hours.
Oh, perhaps I misinterpreted what you were asking. I didn't have to pay for the oil filter, oil, and antifreeze that they just put on, but no, they did not give me extras for the "upcoming oil change" in 49 hours. But hey, I didn't pay for the $7569.52 engine nor the 12.72????? hours of labor, so I'd say it's a win-win.

definite win, was not sure how warranty played out regarding the upkeep on new engine.

A question for the OP. Did they ever tell you what the root cause of your engine problem was ?

No. When I was there Wednesday (posts 104-106), they had pulled out the old engine and installed the new one. I was told that the old one was in a crate (probably the one that the new engine arrived in) and was going to be shipped back to Massey Ferguson for analysis. The dealer's mechanic had not pulled the head nor dropped the oil pan.

Pictures in post #1 were of the hole in the right side of the engine, but I knew there was a hole(s) on the left side hidden behind a bracket, so it couldn't be seen from the outside. Turns out that bracket was the left rear mount. Here's a photo that he took of the left side with the (bent) bracket before he crated it:

Strange diagnosis? When I was at the dealership last week, I asked the mechanic if he had dropped the oil pan after pulling the engine. His reply seemed strange to me: "Didn't have to, the oil pan was full of antifreeze". I had not seen that on the dipstick after the engine blew.

The service order I got today said: "found antifreeze in oil because bad head gasket caused engine to detonate". I'll take that with a grain of salt. I more strongly suggest that the errant connecting rod cracked the water jacket.
