Fence Posts in concrete or not?

I grew up in east Tenn. and as I recall the corner posts were set with lime the rest were hand tamped.Things have changed I guess.

The concrete based post has a little more weight and surface area on the bottom. This may help in wet soil conditions.

Of course if you drive the post to preset conditions using the { Hileig chelis } Spelling??? design then it's a different matter.

I would check with someone else in your area and see how they did it. Ask how long they have been in the ground, see what kind of shape they are in. Adjust to your situation.
