A friend of mine has a 4200 with a FEL that does't have any down pressure.
Any ideas what it might be??

Just a guess, but sounds like the hydraulic line for that function is not hooked up properly or is plugged for some reason. That would be the line that goes to the boom cylinders on the end that collapses the cylinder. Disconnect it at the valve and reconnect it to make sure it seats good and try again. And check to be sure the system is full of fluid and there is nothing interfering with the lever when pushed forward.

Did it used to but now doesn't? Is he sure he's not putting it in to float by pushing the lever to far forward?
Mine is not a 4200, but I was having dump and float problem (not able to do either but all other functions worked) and found the bottom mounting bolt for the SCV loose. Tightened it and all is well now.
