I tried bending the plate steel (11 guage). HAHAHAHA /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif
Well...at least I get points for trying. I tried with the bucket as well.
Loges1: It looks good. Did you have a plate rolled for the plow?
HA - plate rolled? Plate rolling is for professionals. I'm going to lay the blade frame on the ground, lay a sheet of steel over it, and press it into shape with my FEL.
I printed my response and I'm in the process of eating my words. /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif
I then proceeded to cut the plate into 3 stips aprox 8"-10" wide. I welded them to the frame and welded the seams. I have some clean-up work to do, then I'll post the pics. Doesn't look as good as the sweeping curve would have but it works. I also reinforced the A frame pivot.

Sorry it didn't work out so good for you at first. 11ga. plate doesn't sound to bad to work with, untill you try to make it go where it don't wanna go /forums/images/graemlins/crazy.gif. As far as leaving the plate rolling to the pro's- Not this one! I would rather take a butt woop'n than have to roll plate. Done it. Didn't like it. Don't want to do it no more /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Billy

That's quite the under taking! I hope the project comes out well. I do quite a bit with snowplowing, in terms of uing them and fixing them when they break. As mentioned by another poster your pivot looks weak. Here are some liks to part list from Fisher snowplows. There are 2 styles the old and new. These files are pdf files.

Old style blade pivot

Old style a-frame

New style blade pivot

New style a-frame

Hope this may give you some ideas. I wish I had your computer drafting skills. I'm still trying to find time to take some computer drafting cousres. I've got a lots of ideas but need to get them on paper to show and tell. I've tried to learn it on my own but don't know where to start and it a bit over whelming too.

Best of luck!

WOW! Thank you. I think a redesign is in order. The one thing I noticed is that there is a tremendous amount of weight on the blade when in float mode. It's not just the blade weight but the FEL as well. I will be adding shoes this weekend which are a neccessity, but I don't think I should be operating it in float mode.
Again, thanks to everyone for their input. Next project I'll post the 3d computer model for criticism, THEN start cutting metal.

You absolutely should be using float. That is what lets the blade follow the contour of the drive/surface you are plowing.
