I must respectfully disagree...Try practicing first with the bucket about a foot off the ground to you get used to "popping" it into float or you will be doing wheelies

I have never used it in float position before but I always keep the bucket close enough to the ground to catch stumps or rocks you can't see,if you hit something the tractor just stops so you can backup and go around it or check to see what it is then raise the mower. MH

You are spoilin' all the fun. Not only will you go up fast, but when it goes all the way into float, you come down fast too.
You are absolutely correct, if you start a foot off the ground, you will not look like a low rider doing a hydraulics test.

I run mine with the bucket 6" to a foot off the ground with the bucket curled sometimes, but rarely in float position. If you have the bucket floating on the ground you will have to lift it at every turn or else you could catch something and twist the loader frame while turning.

Agreed. Not only that, but pushing the bucket in float position puts a lot of stress on the loader frame. Float position is great for backing up and dragging light dirt, but pushing should be done seldom and with caution.
