FEL and 2wd drive YM1510

I am currently in the process buying a tractor for my two acres. A yanmar 1510 (2wd) I want to mount a Front End Loader to it, but when I asked the dealer about it I got the impression that this was not a good idea, that I really need a 4wd. I would appreciate any advice/opinions that support or refute his suggestion. I do not have alot of $ and if I have to get a 4wd to use the FEL then I will put out the extra for the 1510D and wait for another day to buy the FEL .

I guess I would go out on the web and ask a few more dealers to see what they say. I would also call some of the loader companies such as Koyker and get an opinion from them.

To me, it would be a bit light to have a loader on it and typically two drives this small don't go that great with a loader. This is just my opinion and maybe others will chime in or you will get answers from other dealers. You may also want to post your question in the Yanmar forum

It's not a good idea to use an FEL on a small 2WD tractor. The stresses when you're loaded are too great and you'll have a hard time even working in soft soils with a load.
When I was looking to buy a tractor, I went to a dealer who had new Farmtracs. He also had gray market Yanmars and Mitsu's. There was a YM1500 sitting there with a broken front axle. When I asked him what had happened, he said, "I tried to tell the owner that this tractor just isn't meant to carry a front end loader, and this is the second time he's broken the axle. I think he's going to go 4WD though after this."
