Has anyone ever built a shredder bar for a Fecon Bullhog? I am trying to improve the finished product after mulching. The bh85 only has one row of counter combs and it spits out some big pieces. I want to add a shredder bar to improve it. Does anyone care to share their ideas?

Do you have a door on the front of the mulcher? If so weld a length of 2"x4" channel section along the bottom of it, makes a huge difference

I don't have a door on it now but thought about adding one. I guess the channel that you added just slows the material from exiting the mulcher. Did you weld it with the channel towards the rotor or toward the door?

I hear ya. that's why I didn't go with a Fecon even though I liked the lower profile than my FAE (which is a fine mulcher and I love it).

I think it is doable.. If you got the specs right, you could get counter combs on the trap door and back wall. I don't know much about welding hardox or something similar but maybe mild steel could be hardfaced?
If you take this on, I'd love to see pics.

I welded it on with the channel towards the door because there was an angle section already on it. The channel was put on originally to stop the door bending and the other benefits happened.

I've been told that the Fecon door doesn't hold up very well. I have never run a mulcher with the door. I would like to add another row of counter combs in the lining of the head and then buy or build a door and add some counter combs on that also. Fae uses rows of what looks like a gear rack on theirs. Does anyone know what clearance they run between the teeth and the counter combs?
