Favorite Winter Fuel Additive?

Same here.

There are instructions in the owners manual to add some kerosene to prevent gelling in extreme cold temps. But I've never seen anything that cold in southern Michigan.

Gelling of #2 diesel happens at 17F or a minus 8C .

Not needed. I use the PS white jug stuff on the diesel I put into the 60 gallon tank of the Isuzu generator because it sits there so long (8 years now, but took out and replaced 20 gallons recently). Sometimes pump some out and use in the tractor.

Never used any additives in the 2 Benz diesels over 32 years nor the VW TDI for nearly 7 years. An additive might have stopped the fuel gelling from occurring @ -21 F one morning in Vermont. No big deal. Fired right up. Stopped running a couple miles out. Let sit about a minute. Fired up. Ran another couple miles. Same thing. Then kept going. Fuel filter on the Benzes is right up next to the engine block. Only need 0.l5% as a fuel gel preventer.

Once had wax globs come out of solution when I bought some off-road diesel. Doubt any additive would have prevented that. Had to siphon fuel out of the tank and then fish the globs out with a grabber tool. Could have just warmed some up maybe sitting in a bigger container of very hot water to dissolve the wax. We used hot (about 200 F) kerosene to wash the filters in propane dewaxing units.
