Favorite summer drink?

Don't remember which one? But, one of my prescription medications makes grapefruit and it's juice a strict no-no.

You haven't had an organ transplant have you? (don't answer that if you don't want to). A relative had a liver transplant and she was told not to consume grapefruit products. Don't know why, either.

Speaking without proper knowledge but the grapefruit juice may increase the uptake rate of medications thereby intensifying the results of the medication which may not be the proper the way it's supposed to work.

Anyone take ice cold root beer in a large frozen mug and drop in 2-3 shots of root beer schnapps? Maybe drop in a couple scoops of vanilla ice cream, too? Hmmm? Anyone???

I've done the ice cream, very good. Even better is Vanilla schnapps added to the rootbeer with lots of ice. The last time I looked the only thing I could find was a liqueur called Vanilla Kiss. It was really good in rootbeer. All this talk and I think I'm gonna need to go to a liqueur store soon. Sunday is father's day

Speaking of summer drinks, my wife and I have discovered smoothies. Some places make them more like slushes, but there is a place called Jamba Juice that makes terrific smoothies. We also make them at home. We buy the mix and then get creative with additions. Yesterday afternoon after mowing the lawn, I mixed up two pina colada smoothies and added about 1-1/2 cups of fresh pineapple before blending. When fully blended, it was very cold and smooth. Yum! I may do that again and add a little rum for an extra zip.

That's pretty much what the Bacardi mixes are... frozen like O.J. You just pop it in a blender full of ice, add 1/2 can (or more) of rum and blend. You get great frozen drinks in a hurry. You can dress them up with your favorite fruits, garnishes, etc...

Glad to see the beer guys being creative. When I bicycled through Ireland many summers ago a favorite drink of the locals at lunch was half and half Guiness and cream. I thought it sounded pretty revolting but it wasn't half bad. Kind of like an unsweetened float.
