"His contention was that they were of the non-professional type and needed closing."

He speaks in generalities that need closer inspection. Since Montana is a privately held company it takes substantial research to find the answer. Personally, the Montana dealers I know that have terminated are of differing quality and age. But be assured that several are long term, multiple franchise holders who will remain in business without Montana.

Shadow,
The dealers you speak of--did they quit or were they quit? Are you friends with them so they would say? It could be important for the ex-Farmtrac dealers to know if there are dealer/distributor problems. I sure there are always misunderstandings--what I'm asking about are the type things that new dealers should be aware of before they sign on.

No advisement made or attempts to influence will be made. My only concern is the truth. The rep in question made a comment that was presented as factual when in fact it was very misleading and subjective. I know of no dealer that was ask to quit. I am sure there was somewhere. I know that TN lost a few due to bankruptcy. This was known to Montana only after the filing so they surely were not ask to quit. For the rep to make such a generalized comment is unwise and less than truthful.

RNF et al,

Here's some cyberpaper of interest. My good friend and DS Staffer T.J. Royal recaps yesterday's Edgecombe County Superior Court happenings and how the legal guillotine looms large for Textron Financial's past sins of bullying, inventory fabrications and product hyperloading.

Former Farmtrac CFO Alton Cobb emerged as one of the day's heros with testimony that demonstrated TFC's knowledge and inducement of actions that harmed the 270-plus dealer network across the U.S. and subsequently cost the 180-person Tarboro workforce their jobs.

Sources reported that during an aside, the rugged, leather-sporting Cobb offered to throw his full support behind retailers -- inviting the opportunity to testify in future legal proceeding.

The case was in process at the close of business Wednesday.

RNF,

I'll talk with Al and confirm it... but I believe a decker unit is one that's still on the skid and in an unassembled form. That's largely what the Fairview Street facility did: dismount units from their transport pallate mountings, then add tires and other things not on them during shipping.

Of the 900-plus units in the Tarboro yard, the majority of the were *not* assembled last spring. By the end of summer, Gurkins and a band of a handful made an effort to put together as many of them as possible this summer -- about 120 from a few reports I've heard.

Perhaps they thought it would bring more auction returns if units were driveable.

Thanks for posting that!

... former North Carolina territory sales manager for Farmtrac, said that he had been requested by management to generate sales on equipment that had not been ordered by dealers.

He also said that dealers' credit limits had been raised to accommodate the additional equipment "frequently," without their permission.
There's the smoking gun, or at least one of them. I wonder what will happen next?

In regards to this statement from the article.........

"the practice of billing the company's dealers for tractors they hadn't ordered "started before (parts) inventory arrived" at the Tarboro plant."

In layman terms-that means the tractors were still on the ship, in the ocean and had NOT even gone through customs on LAND

" a former Farmtrac account manager, about $25 million in wire transfers made to Escorts Group while creditors in the U.S. were still owed money.
Joines said that while she was there, "if you wanted to keep your job, you had to do it," instead of issuing funds elsewhere."

WHERE DID THE MONEY TRANSFER TO?????????

I am very proud of the former Farmtrac employees that had to go through the ordeal in testifying-Those that testified and told the truth have my respect!!!!

Bonus points if you can name the three people behind the roll bar on the 675DTC picture. Adding which companies they represent will get you a star on your report.
Larry, Moe and Shemp.
Whoob, whoob, whoob!

Two thoughts:
1) Glad they gave testimony and it uncovered much of what some knew for the longest of times.

2) What in the mother f*** took them so long?! And why didn't they cooperate earlier?!

IMHO, there are still some *serious* integrity issues here.
Why? Many people lost jobs and dealers lost their businesses and/or lifetimes of labor due to the extended silence and lack of cooperation of a few.

Granted, it could've ended up worse...

Even without "a dog in the hunt" and operating purely from a philosophical position, it is *infuriating.*

This was sent to Senator Bond and Representative Emerson:

Dear _________<
Here is a link to an article in the Daily Southerner Newspaper:

The Daily Southerner, Tarboro, NC - Who gets paid first?

This concerns the wrong doing at Farmtrac, NA that the Federal Trade commission couldn't find. I hope you enjoy it. When your friends up on the hill say that we can't do anything to help protect our industries and businesses from illegal foreign acts because it is "protectionism" I hope that you'll share this article with them. I understand that congress can't do anything to protect it's smaller businesses because it is so important now to bailout crooks in the mega banks and insurance companies (and soon to be bailout mega shopping malls).
Thanks for reading this article to see what the Trade Commission glossed over!

Has our friendly bluetick been able to sniff out where the wire transfers went? Is it possible to do that without a court order?

Way to go, G-man! Well said!!!!!!

Every person should do the same for their local and federal officials! If the person support them, offer thanks. If not, then **pile on***. You've suffered through (and most still do!) the lean times and... subsequently EARNED the right to savor the comeupance.

Perhaps one of the book's chapters can be titled "Ignored" and another "The Wrath"? Trust me, it will be annotated!!!!

On a similar note to your letter above, I gained some satisfaction in this...
Tried sending an e-mail to former NC Senator Dole only to have it bounce.

Oh, that's right... *she* got bounced.
I call that karma. Overlooked for months and then to receive a truncated 'spin' e-mail... Being overlooked at the polls seems a fitting outcome.

Like the Mickey D's commercials say... "Lovin' it."
