Re: Farmall\'s are coming back!!!

Case is International

I know that/knew that, I guess I slipped there, just as of late I have been thinking of CNH and not thinking about the Internationsal name.

Re: Farmall\'s are coming back!!!

I think they are just trying to make a sale by using sentamentality. Is that a word? I really don't think anyone is really going to look up the history of the original Farmall and think "Gee this tractor will work just like the oldies". You maybe reading a little to much into this. It is just a name for a line of tractors, nothing more. I like giving a line of tractors a name more than the 4000 series or the 50 series like John Deere does and I am a Deere fan. Deere broke their own tradition when they named their utility vehicle the Gator. One I haven't figured out is the NH Boomer. Where did that one come from?

Re: Farmall\'s are coming back!!!

The New Holland got that name because they where a tractor designed with the baby boomer generation in mind. Almost all the ads you see for this tractor brochures and such will have a person from the baby boomer generation on them. This is how it was explained to the dealer body anyways. We all thought it was stupid also.

Farmall Name Reborn - 25 February, 2003

http://www.caseih.com/news/detail.asp?Reg=NA&RL=ENNA&id=1487&type=news

Case IH issued the new release on February 25, 2003. IT starts out ... "Case IH is re-introducing the Farmall name in conjunction with a new line of compact tractors to be launched later this year. Farmall defined the word "tractor" for generations of farmers."

There are only two months left in the year. I would think there would be more news releases about it if they are going to be on time.

Re: Farmall\'s are coming back!!!

Yeah, I thought they would say more about them too. Dealers are taking orders for them with the first ones expected to arive in December or early January.

I understand (and agree with) what you're saying, but.....

when someone mentions a Boomer, you know exactly what he's talking about, don't you?

Maybe it wasn't so stupid after all! /forums/images/graemlins/shocked.gif /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Any more updates about the availability of the Farmall's? I visited our local Case dealer last week and he said he expected his first two (35 & 29) in February. He did have a 1 page fold out color brochure with a little story about the Farmall heritage and the spec's of the line. The only pictures were distant ones of several of the new models. /forums/images/graemlins/cool.gif

Re: Farmall\'s are coming back!!!

This is not a rant but; to use your analogy, the 2002 Retro Thunderbird was just a ploy....(it was Motor Trends car of the year that year and is the only named vehicle to ever have been named the Car of the year 4 different times). I guess Pontiac bringing back the GTO is also just a ploy. Name recognition is the name of the game. Neither the TBird nor the new GTO have anything in common with the originals except they have 4 wheels and a steering wheel. BobG who HAS a '57 Farmall 230 and am glad the name will live on.

Re: Farmall\'s are coming back!!!

Several Farmall DX55's have arrived in New York. There is one at Batavia NY, and Cazenovia NY for sure.

Re: Farmall\'s are coming back!!!

It took 11 months for them to update their website but they finally did it.

Farmall Update

Only 1 picture and you can't tell much from it. They do acknowledge that the tractors are D and DX Farmalls.

Re: Farmall\'s are coming back!!!

I saw a new Farmall (DX33) at our local dealer this week. Looks exactly like the "old" Boomer before the recent design change to the hood etc... Platform, swivel seat, tilt-tele steering wheel all the same as the NH. Still has the Case IH decals on the side, just a small Farmall tag on the front grille. The dealer had it priced over $1,000 more than the comparable "new design" Boomer that I had seen last week at another dealer, hmmmmmm.....!!!!!!! /forums/images/graemlins/cool.gif

Re: Farmall\'s are coming back!!!

They are priced over the boomer but they have a better discount to the dealer at this point.

Re: Farmall\'s are coming back!!!

When I was new tractor shopping the CaseIH was $1000 more than a comparable NewHolland. I asked the guy why the difference if they were the same tractor? His reply was, "they are the same?" /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif

I happen to be driving past the CaseIH dealer and noticed this deep red tractor parked out front. Pulled in to check it out. It was a CASE/International Harvester - FARMALL - DX33.
