Thanks for all replys,
erj, is top tube/fork in your pic in neutral ?
My box has 4 tubes, the H/L tube is not in pic
In my pic the middle tube is 3rd gear only. I thought I had everything in neutral, but I will double check

There is no breakage anywhere that I can see, so I think that fork/gear is seized
A neighbor that is a bulldozer mechanic is gonna look at it today

? FLUIDS ?
? Does Trans,/Gearbox require 80/90wt oil (19 qts) ?
Local store has "PEAK UNIVERSAL TRACTOR FLUID" on sale but I don't think it's anywhere near 80/90wt

When in neutral the three blocks will be in alignment, yours are not, you run the risk of engaging two gears at the same time that will destroy the transmission.
Let the me mechanic fix it.

Thanks Winmac,
The picture with top tube & fork not in line is not my gearbox, that is "erj" gearbox
My gearbox is pictured in prior thread, & they are inline

That (erj) diagram is of the wrong transmission. Here's one that's more representative of the 300 series Jinma.

and the transmission cover

Photos of the problem tranny show clear evidence of long term exposure to wet gear oil. How long have you owned this tractor?

Thanks greg_g
Your diagram is my transmission, with exception of different gear location.
My 3rd gear is by itself where reverse is in the schematic you sent
The picture erj posted looks like failure/breakage of the block, groove that shifter end goes in on the upper tube.
I drained gear oil, & it does have a very liittle yellowish tint to it, but there was not but about 3.2 gal fluid in it.
There is a little rusty stain on the tubes, but none on gears or inside wall of box
I did remove the roll pins & moved forks back & forth & all seems fine
I don't think tubes can be removed unless broke apart, as I could not get them to move back enough to remove.

Will flush gearbox with kerosene & put back together
Mechanic 1st thought a gear was stuck or o-ring broke,
now says that shifter end may have not been engaging or something stuck, he says all looks good now
I got this tractor about 6 months ago, this is the 4th Chinese tractor I've had.
1 was junk, 1 was too little, 1 was too big, this 30hp is ideal for my use, I just miss the FEL
Other than a couple lights not working, this one has been perfect

Sorry for confusing the issue. When I saw the 3 tubes in David’s picture, I thought that it was the same transmission as my 284. In my picture, the top tube is the Hi/Lo shifter and is in the Hi position. The middle tube is for 2nd and 3rd gears and the bottom tube is for 1st and Reverse.

Oh boy, I just can't believe all the input & help from you guys
erj, I think this Farm Pro 2430 is same as Jinma 304, & the jump from 200 series to 300 series changed the gearbox.
Did you repair the tube & fork in your tranny ?Just wondering if you were able to get the tube out.

I think the combo of low fluid & moisture is the culprit in my problem
I have found a little rusty spot on a couple gear & shaft, so I'm gonna let it soak in a little WD-40 then flush with kero
Oil is high, but I may do it twice

It saves money to use the SAME kerosene for multiple flushes. To do that, put some kind of filtration material between the drain hole and the catch bucket. Window screen will get the big chunks, but cheese cloth is much better. Flush the gear boxes, filter the drainage, reuse.

Good news here, Flushed box twice. Air hosed a little, put 19 qts. 80/90 oil in gearbox.
Made new gasket for cover & put back on gearbox. Tranny works GREAT, vey smooth & tight.
Now, l am probably gonna need a little help/input on adjusting clutch.
Thanks for all the help,
David

Before formulating a response, it's important to know up front just what it is that makes you think a clutch adjustment is necessary.
