If he is a good and honest friend that you want to keep for a long time, give him the chains and your sales receipt for them. If he values your friendship as much as you value his, he will reward you in-kind, more than money can buy.

If he is not this kind of friend, start the bargaining at $472, which is 2/3 of new price.

Friend, either 50%, or free, depending on how good a friend he was. On the other hand, if I was the friend, I would want to give you at least 50%, and maybe full price, if they’re really like new.
