Guys, I’m thinking of building a steel carrying platform of sort, and bolt it onto the front of my YM2000. It will allow me to carry things around (rocks, sacks of cement, lumber…), and will add the needed weight to the front. Any construction ideas you care to share will be appreciated.

I have seen pictures of "rock boxes" that farmers use and they have either a hinged bottom floor with a locking mechanism/handle for dumping or the front vertical plate is hinged and can be folded down to push the rocks out the front. This might be something to consider when you built yours.

I built a front bumper that had a 2" reciever in the middle of it. Then all you had to do was a put whatever you wanted on the front. I mounted a sprayer to spray round-up. Also had a shackle on the front to hook chain in and pull thing with. A friend of my filled his bumper like mine with lead that he got at a tire store for weight (he had a steep hill to bush hog up). I just installed a front end loader and had to remove it and will miss it. I have a Yanmar. dan

Bob that is a 1953 WD that belonged to my father-in-law. It is a pretty nice tractor. It is not used for much, a little trailer pulling and such. thanks big dan

Thanks to oldhipp, I've now made my Yanmar even more versatile. The receiver he sent me worked out like a charm...after I had to drill a couple of holes on my tractor's bumper, which proved a not so easy task with the hand drill. But it's done and over with, now I can tow a trailer, or use the platform to haul stuff around. A big thanks to Big Dan!

I think he was talking about Oldhippy's barn, right behind the other tractor.

LOL... You don't see it?

:D

Indeed it was OH's barn that caught my eye.

I do like your Yanmar though. A nice setup.

Here's what I plan to tow around with my tractor set-up. I landed this 1953 US military trailer a couple of weeks ago for $150. It's not pretty but it's rock solid so I think a bit of sand blasting, and priming/painting, ought to do the trick.

I can foresee a lot of gravel, sand, and rock towing in its future....

gcp I am glad the bumper is going to work for you. Looks real nice on your tractor. Those chrome balls really throw off a reflection. My old barn is a little over 100 yrs old. It was about four hundred feet west of where it is now. The man that owned the farm lost some hogs to high water. So they jacked up the barn and put beams under it, then hooked up all mule teams from the area and moved it to where it is now. And I can't do anything if I don't have some machine around. Gcp if you have any hills you could put some lead in the bumper and help the front end stay on ground. A man I work with did that to a similar bumper (no hitch) and it helped him on hills. My place is flat flat. big dan

Shoot, I saw the big barn, drinks on the new platform, the bridge, the other tractor, the big tires you were loading to move somewhere, and even the nice fishing boat in the reflection of that chrome ball.

Nice bridge you are building there by the way.

Oh yea, there is also that big back hoe forking that one area over there. :D

Great job!
