I am replacing the PTO shaft again... and would like to know if anyone has assembled the read bearing in a fixed position. Not using the springs that allow it to float.

Could be wrong but I thought the springs are there for setting belt tension, so I would say if still able to set belt tension then yes.

What is a "read" bearing? or is this a typo?
