F525 smoking

My brother has a F525 with 360 hours on it. He says it smokes when it runs but if he puts Marvel Mystery oil in the gas the smoking stops. What could be going on? He says the mower runs just fine.

Mine smokes a little on first startup after sitting for a while (weeks) its a spare mower for me but serves a good purpose in narrow section of the yard.

It knocks a bit when its cold, I always figured it was a clearance issue or an oil overfill (its that 1/2 quart thing).

I just bought one from a friend and it runs Great but smokes alot, is there anything I can do to stop it from smoking?

What engine is in the F525?
Gas, right?

If so, may need to do a ring and valve job.
