F3990 vs newer F3710 4wd front deck mowers

Sideways traction mowing horizontally is where I need more traction.

My fluid filled turf tires gets plenty of traction climbing & going down as long as I stay STRAIGHT.

The 4cyl turbo is super heavy on rear axle.

Well if the 4cyl engine has enough power to go up & down, with bar tires you won’t lose traction. No need to mow sideways. It’s more unsafe.

Friend of mine has a Toro Zero turn 72" for sale here in Michigan. Same as the Exmark version. She went with Exmark diesel version so tractors and mower all run the same fuel. No need for gas anymore. All cleaned up, greased & oiled ready to fly. $6000.

The F3990 / F3710 front axle width doesn’t look as wide as the rear ZD1211 / ZD151 axle ?

Wouldn’t mind seeing these hills you have. I mow some really steep stuff with a zero turn and turfs. I’m not saying its easy, but as long as there’s no dew or softness to the ground after a rain, it’s doable.

I have bar tires in a Grasshopper mower and one of the reasons I wanted 4x4 F as a second mower was to be able to mow when the ground is wet, without making ruts & bar tire marks.

As it has turned out the F3060 has enough traction with turf tires and without 4x4 so the hopper is getting very little use nowadays.

But that's just us, each yard is different and so is each region - we need to mow often when the ground is wet.

I was thinking the OP had a huge area, like a field that sloped, but it wasn’t like a manicured lawn????
If that’s the case, bar tires might just save him a lot of $$$ ??
