F24D Ring and pionion Backlash

I'm installing a new rear ring and pinion gear set. How much backlash should there be.

sorry don't have an answer for you. But wondering how much you ended up paying for the ring and pinion. And how hard a job is this.

.005-.010" is usually a good initial setting on any differential, to be adjusted up or down, depending on gear marking compound pattern.

Thanks for the info normde. I paid $695 for new set runningbird and if you have any doubts then it's best left to a mechanic.
