F2400 Ignition Issue

Well Hello everyone, this is my very first post and I hope this is in the right section. My 90's Kuboto F2400 started acting up on me. First the ignition switch would not turn off the machine, so being the clever person that I am

I used the manual kill switch under the hood. Easy enough right, well nope after 3 or 4 starts I was using the machine and during the last time the engine temp meter and the gas meter died as well. So when I turned it off it didn't start again. So I tried multiple times to get it to start, wiggling wires and such to no avail. It does not click, no flick of the oil and temp lights, no nothing. I thought this has to be an electrical issue, which is why I started wiggling all the wires etc. lol. So I called my local Kubota dealer and told them what was up and they suggested replacing the control module, and the ignition switch, so I did both and nothing. Same thing, absolutely like the battery is completely dead. Has anyone ever experienced this? I imagine it is either a relay, or maybe a short of some sort... Any advice would be much appreciated, my fields are 2 feet already and I find myself scratching my head on this one.

Did you search the forum for similar problems? There has been a lot of discussions about when the tractor won't shut off and how to fix it.

The temperature and fuel gauges dying sound like a fuse.

Did you check all the safety switches?

Thank for the quick reply mdorange, I looked at the fuse and it looked ok, but I will change it out for good measure in the morning. Also to clarify the temp and gas meters as well as the lights on the panel all went dead, while using the machine, and once I turned it off, the machine wouldn't start. I will start searching around the forum for more answers as well. Thanks again.

I have just had a battery that seemed fine and would run the lights but soon as I hit the starter it would die wait 2 minutes and lights work fine and it had 12.5 volts just wouldn't take a load. Clean the terminals and make sure all your levers are in neutral.

Hello again everyone. I wanted to let you know what I found. I haven't fixed the original problem yet, but I found that the starter has some sort of feedback loop to the control panel, and if that doesn't complete then nothing works - and I mean nothing. So here are the images of what it was and how I fixed it.

So I cleaned oiled and made her shiny again, and she started right up. However the original problem where I couldn't turn her off still persists. Using the manual kill lever under the hood does work to kill the engine. Any thoughts?

It looks like you just used regular automotive wire to repair it, that was a fuseable link, please get a new one from Kubota, that is made to burn in two if there is an issue , short, or excessive draw to the starting circuit. Looping it with plain wire will past the failure down the harness to something you probably don't want to buy!
