Did you pull the dipstick and check the oil level?

Yup....whats the oil level look like?

How many hours and when was the last oil change?

These things only hold like 2qts of oil. So an engine with some hours on it that might use or leak a little oil.....there isnt much to spare...

I had to replace the engine on my 2012 lazer Z last year. Kholer Command Pro 34hp. Threw a rod at only 640 hours. Replaced with a Kawasaki engine this time on the recommendation of a friend in the lawn care business. He owns several and has had issues with Kohler.

Yes, oil is full, and looks clean on the dipstick. Oil is only one full cutting on this oil change.

Actually got the engine to spin but it feels tight, and didn't fire.

Valvetrain looks great.

Here's a video of it trying a fire. I need a borescope.

Just to update this, I got the mower fixed. What had it locked up was the clutch pulley on the crankshaft had locked up which kept the engine from spinning. A new pulley, and it's back to running like a top.
