To take exhaust out was always a problem. The connection was by done by tubes slid one in another and I always ended up cutting the exhaust pipe and welding new connection in.

I expected the muffler to make it through the winter, but it developed a crack and the crack was getting bigger and I was getting more and more shy while there was a cop around:)

Finally I got tired of it and bought flowmaster and to honer the cool sound, I decided to add a flange to the exhaust. At first, I was going to turn it from a piece of 1/4" steel, but after checking local stores, I found a better solution.

Search in TSC (that makes it tractor related, right?) resulted in 2" bearing flanges from cca 2mm steel and Autozone next door provided 3 bolts exhaust gasket with 2" opening.

Square holes were not a problem, they were big enough for 5/16" bolts. Here is the first flange welded on the pipe and the second bolted to the first as a test run.

One screwup per project is my average score, this time is was not that bad. I tacked the second flange to the pipe, got under the jeep with the assembled exhaust and realized the flange has to be in exact position to bolt to the front flange:mad:

Luckily it was only tacked, after bit of grinding I was able to get the flange loose again, bolt it together, mark the right position and weld it all solid.

Worked like a charm, there is no leak whatsoever and the flowmaster sure has a nice rumble.

You are a jeeper if: You spend more time under your Jeep than under your significant other.

Not to rain on your parade Prokop but that looks an awful lot lighter then a header connection, and those things give you fits keeping them sealed / blowing gaskets.

Maybe it is far enough (cool enough) down the line to not cause you problems but I would keep an eye on it.

Thanks for the comment, I think I am safe, since my Jeep is no race car:) I check it every so often and it does not seem to deteriorate so far.
