Would it be possible to construct a small transmitter that could be tied into the phone line inside the exterior junction box that would then broadcast the conversation the short distance to the nieghbors?

I dated a girl once whose phone line had a problem where we could hear other conversations on the line. They were muted but certainly loud enough to be a hinderance to our conversation. She made several calls to the phone company before they finally "fixed" the problem. Apparently, there was something about the connection of her line and her neighbor's line out on the street that caused cross-talk between the two lines. The interesting part is that we could hear them with no problem, but they apparently couldn't hear us. She lived in the city and we often speculated as to which of her neighbors we were listening to...

Might be worth a call to "Ma Bell"...

Well what you could do is have a female friend over to the house while your wife is away and talk as if you two are having an affair. Then you could have your wife call up a male friend on the cell phone as if she having an affair with someone. The neighbors will approach if they here and by however they are acting is which way they are listening.
Then again some people are just plain nosy and love to gossip.

When I was in high school I had a good friend who, for some unknown reason, had one phone jack in his house that was tied into a neighbor 2 houses down. We used that line to make ridiculous amounts of prank calls. /forums/images/graemlins/tongue.gif We never listened to their conversations. This lasted for years until my friend did some landscaping and cut the line and didn't bother to find it and fix it. Who knows, maybe you have the same situation?
