Not trivial - it looks really neat ! But now you have to get to work and get that label scuffed off the bucket from working...:laughing:

I agree, The Deer looks great and nice job but that bucket needs a few scratches in it.:thumbsup:

You also need to add some scratches to the inside of the bucket for that "custom look" :laughing:
Oops, looks like you have had a few comments about this. It is not good to have such an obvious flaw with your tractor. People see the pic and immediatly post without reading the other responses.
I hereby edit my response and suggest that you at least wipe some dirt on the bucket.:thumbsup:

Yep, it HAS been spoiled so far, got a whopping 3.8 hours on it. Primarily because since I got it a while back (and in the process overruling a strong recommendation by my better half to get an older, cheaper, used tractor instead) I've been paying a LOT more attention to the job jar in the kitchen, which for some strange reason has been fuller than usual.
So I'm currently paying dues... you married TBN'ers out there will certainly understand that. I expect things will level out in a few weeks, though.

I did the deer on my computer and traced it onto 1/8" aluminum sheet stock and rough-cut it with a band saw. The final shaping took a little time, but since I also fool around with making custom knives, I have several sizes of belt grinders in my shop, which helped a lot. It makes my home-made brush guard look a little more OEM-ish, I hope. Even the wife liked it (stunned look).
Good idea, Chilly! My neighbor has a gravel pile, I'll go over there and scuff the bucket up some! I'll be doing mostly box blade stuff for a while until this fall when the ground is softer, then I'll do some honest dirt work and really mess it up good, but it wouldn't hurt to make sure she thinks I'm using it a lot in the meantime.

Actually, I would have been ok with buying a JD brush guard (well, maybe not after I saw the price) but other than the open frame guard that comes standard with a 305 loader, I couldn't find one. Some of the others have a "Deluxe Grille Guard" or something similar that offers much more protection--for a price, of course--but not the 3E series. I guess that's in keeping with the basic utilitarian models they were intended to be. There's no law that says a guy can't dress it up a bit, though!

I never thought about it until I was watching American Pickers a few days ago. One of the things they are into are signs. They ran across a Deere sign that had either three or four legs. I don't remember which it was, but it was the rarer of the two because they were very excited about it.

I like it too, but I have never understood how they stay in business. They seem to make a couple hundres bucks a day and they have at least three emloyees and a place of business.
I also love Pawn Stars. I see how they make money.

I bet they make a lot of follow ups that are not shown on TV. In addition, I bet they get a lot of leads as to where to go to look for stuff because of the show. Finally, I suppose, the people that own the rights to the show pay that business pretty good money to tape their day to day operations. Heck, I would take a million per year to let them tape me

Oh yeah, I get how they make coin with the show... but if they were just pickin' without a show?
You're right, they must do A LOT that is not covered by the show.

I kinda figured they don't always tell the exact (correct) amount they sell for to keep from driving up potential buying costs in the future.
