Ever Felt Threatened Enough That A Pistol Was Needed?

I had incident about 15 or 20 years ago. I was stopped on a rural road at 5:00 am waiting on a slow train to pass. A guy came from nowhere and tapped on my window. I rolled the window an inch or so and he asked for a ride. Said his car was up the road out of gas. He asked for a ride and was perfectly nice until I told him no. Then he started yanking on the door handle. My deer rifle was behind the seat. He disappeared quickly when he saw the butt of the gun coming over the seat. I had to travel the length of the road to get to work and didn't see a car on the side of the road. I should have called the police when I got to work but was young and dumb. I don't carry now but I have been thinking about applying for a permit to exercise my constitutional rights.

I have been on 6 of the 7 continents and out side of the bribes to deal with customs, police, ect in other countries (if you expect it it's no surprise) I felt most threatened by some people in the back of my taxi when I drove one in the early 70's night shift to make a few extra bucks and was robbed a couple of times for 20-30 bucks each times. I learned that some cash backup hidden, and a false wallet with false credit cards, that you can give away makes a difference. Taking a handgun on a airplane is kind of a no-no. I have felt more threatened here in the US than any where else in the world. Our next trip will be to So. Africa (been there before) and don't worry about it to much.. But I have loaded guns in both the shop and the house.

The neighbor hood felon, knows not to screw with me, any thing stolen will point back to him, and his nephew, and now he kind of patrols the road, to keep things ç”°ool?

my wife goes out of the country alot. been all over. only one place she ever felt a lil worried as there was a military coup while she was there, and the group she was with got whisked across the border to another country int he middle of the night :) there were 'resistance fighters' walking down the streets with rpg's and machineguns. :)

one place she went they had an armed guard with them. that was kind of odd feeling.. but oh well.

Here is my escort in Pakistan. There was the same truck with a machine gun also behind my car. I had a guy with a gun sitting by my door at night. There was one in every hallway, on the building roof etc. Those guys are GBs. They shoot first then ask questions alter. So I was told.

There is no doubt that I am still here because of having the proper tools or at least adequate tools. Be it gun, knife, or even an axe one time.

"Ever Felt Threatened Enough That A Pistol Was Needed?"

Never have myself, and I hope I never have to.
It's a 'last resort' situation that brings chills just thinking about.

Had a friend that was literary held at gun point as a hostage during a convenience store robbery.

a guy with a kinfe can close 15' DARN fast.

had you not had your weapon already out.. you may not have been able to draw it in time.

Agreed, we had to complete yearly "Safety Training/Defensive Tactics" every year with a half day dedicated to "Mat Work". Our trainers demonstrated "The 21 Foot Rule" ie. that someone could cover 21 feet before we could draw and effectively deploy our weapon. We had to demonstrate how best to deal with such an attack which always involved some type of physical contact and disarming or deflection of the person/weapon.

While some may disagree, this is the standard used in Law Enforcement Training and in justifying use of deadly force.

I frequently work with vip/celebs/ hi level politicians.. white house level.. etc.. and on one occasion, we had to wear 'don't shoot me' tags.. so that the snipers on the buildingtops could ID the engineers moving around near the #1's and #2's

i wore that thing right out front to.. :)
