I worked in L.A. years ago and had a concealed carry permit and a shoulder holstered 45 auto on me 5 days a week, 10 hours a day while supervising a HUD project..... but my 120# rottweilier was all i probably ever really needed. Old Rocky was all the intimidation i needed on that site.

Since leaving that horrible job, Ive really never felt the need or want to carry a concealed weapon.

That being said, the wife and I are both in the process of getting the Idaho and Utah CCW permits as i write this. The only reason is I'm afraid that they may cancel the ability to get this, and i want to have it just because. Ill probably never actually need to use it though.

I live in a nice tucked away dead end road situation and i have no worries at present.

3 times for me :ashamed:

The one I came closest to actually shooting someone was when I had to point a Beretta 9 mm right at a belligerent guys face from 8 feet away, safety off, finger on the trigger. I'm surprised I didn't pull the trigger since I was shaking like leaf on a tree. He was armed with a bat, threatening a young guy that worked for me. He was a little drunk or high, but straightened up remarkable fast. Turned out the two of them had some dirty dealings I was unaware of at the time.

That was a middle of the day situation. But the most chilling situation occurred late at night, when an abusive boyfriend of someone we knew, unloaded 6 rounds from a .357 thru the side of a house she was staying in, when he saw her with a male friend. We knew this was coming as there had already been protective restraining orders etc.
My sister heard the gun shots in the neighborhood, and told me to go investigate, I did not hear a thing, and told her she was crazy. But when I went outside I sensed something was very wrong, way to quiet except for a dog that was baying nervously.

Went to the house armed with only a .25 auto, and looked in the window. Saw plaster and broken glass strewn all over the place, then I saw the legs of what I knew were her friends, lying on the floor. I thought for sure it was a murder. I was near frozen with fear. I assumed the shooter was in the house with the girl, as I was trying to get up the nerve to go in, I saw her on the phone. Turned out the guy shot up the house from outside and left, the guy on the floor was just in shock. Six 357's went right thru the room they were in, it was definitely an attempted murder. When the crime scene was recreated, it was determined that I must of crossed his path, but only about half a minute later. He emptied the revolver, unknown if he had reloaded

I was robbed three times. In either case gun would be useless though.
We were vacationing on Vieques island of coast of Puerto Rico. While swimming in the ocean guy on a horse showed up. He took our cameras and all money from our billfold. Well, he put single dollar back there.
Few years ago I arrived to old Mumbai airport and was robbed by a custom officer if you can believe it. He took $600 from my billfold and said you can go now.
Few weeks after that also in Mumbai I entered a taxi that was not a taxi. That time I really worried because I had only 800 rupees (15 USD). It went through my head that it could make them mad and they could beat me up.

A man stepped out of the dark pulled a knife as I was closing a business. Told me to give him the bag. Bag was empty but covered a 45. I threw the bag to him and racked the slide. He never looked up when he heard. Ran and I called cops. Sheriff was there within 4 minutes. Never found culprit. I never really felt threatened because he was 12-15 feet away. Never felt the need shoot but am glad he ran.

I have been on 6 of the 7 continents and out side of the bribes to deal with customs, police, ect in other countries (if you expect it it's no surprise) I felt most threatened by some people in the back of my taxi when I drove one in the early 70's night shift to make a few extra bucks and was robbed a couple of times for 20-30 bucks each times. I learned that some cash backup hidden, and a false wallet with false credit cards, that you can give away makes a difference. Taking a handgun on a airplane is kind of a no-no. I have felt more threatened here in the US than any where else in the world. Our next trip will be to So. Africa (been there before) and don't worry about it to much.. But I have loaded guns in both the shop and the house.

The neighbor hood felon, knows not to screw with me, any thing stolen will point back to him, and his nephew, and now he kind of patrols the road, to keep things 田ool?
