OK all done. Here's the bowl with the see-thru drain tube. If there's water or funk getting in the bowl then it flows down in this tube where I can see it and pull the plug, drain it out. The tubing is from a motorcycle shop. It feels like a "harder silicone", doesn't feel like clear vinyl, it's guaranteed to remain flexible. We'll see I guess.

I put it all back together today. Sawmill engine started on the FIRST pull. Gas in the tank was from November 2013, no stabilizer, just E10 gas from Safeway.

Looks like it might just work. How about putting a barbed shut valve on instead of a plug?:2cents:

yep.. i'd go that route myself.

The right sized threaded bolt might a be cheap option too that is already hanging around in your shop. I don't see accessing it much other than an occasional glance at it.

bolt? plug with a pecock maybee.. but I doubt you want a bolt thread in there...

I know but I have done this kind of thing in the past... maybe stupid but I thread it in and it always holds in the plastic. Definitely shut off valve is best choice. I was going on the cheap. Sorry.

i actually thought you were talking about a bolt int he bowl, not the hose.. ie.. a bolt in place of the top barb.. that was why i commented.. ie.. bolt thread in a taper hole. :)

Yeah same as a simple plug just threaded in the end of the tube. Non threaded plugs seem to fall out or get real hard to pull out... one or the other for sure. I really do like the idea of seeing the contents of the tube.

OK here's the action. A 6x8 beam, 21 feet long. For a shelf in my barn, to hold snowmobiles 6 feet above the ground. Will load them up there with the tractor.

Pretty sure I'll just inspect and drain once a year, if pulling the plug gets tedious every year thats a good idea to replace it with a valve.
