I suspect the people in this pic are warm, well fed, and well clothed. But they are choking, and their gov't has allowed their environment to become unhealthy. Without your health you have nothing.

.

Please tell me this response is in jest because the alternative is not very flattering for you.

Not a chance in H***. It will likely be curtailed in populated areas, where the pollution becomes unacceptable. And under weather conditions that make it unacceptable. Wood heating will never go away in rural areas.

But when pollution becomes unacceptable in the populated areas, everyone can burn as much diesel, gas, propane, whatever as they want. Why's that soda?
Trains, buses, planes, all can keep burning millions of gallons of fuel, but some old guy with his natural wood burning stove is hammered by the law to prohibit burning a couple of logs to stay warm.
Give me a break:thumbdown:

I think soda needs a great big picture of an oil spill, or maybe a great big picture of destructive mining for precious metals used in advanced batteries for solar and wind. That's his style, posting china pollution.

Apparently none of the ones on here saying "it's for cleaner air so it must be good" types have fought a 100,000 acre forest fire. I have for many fire seasons and somehow, after the fires are put out, our planet survives and the air clears up an the cycle of growth and clean air start all over. As many nasty, hot summers I've spent fighting fires, I believe rural living wood stoves would have almost no impact.

Absolutely correct. Rural living wood stoves are not even part of the discussion. Its woodstoves in the city that have caused some legislation.

The title of the thread is: "EPA issue ban on wood stoves" but there is no ban on wood stoves. The thread was started to scare rural people and it's BS.

All true, except that some old guy burning a couple of logs is not getting hammered by the law.

Sodo; you keep saying that but YOU ARE INCORRECT the thread title IS CORRECT in the EPA IS BANNING EXISTING STOVES! Those stoves made NOW are being banned and they must be redesigned at high costs and include catalytic convertors and clean burn tech that will reduce their life span, require pure higher quality wood (not a bad thing there) and any OLD STOVE while can stay in-use where it is now will not be able to be resold unless it is rebuilt and tested to meet the NEW EPA standard, so YES they are BANNING existing Wood Stoves!

I'm also in a rural part of Thurston County Washington and the stove regs are quite strict...

One of my friends was building a new family room and his brother had a new stove he had never installed and it could not be used...

I guess it has a future as yard art?

Nobody's gonna come take your old stove or new stove. Nobody's has to give up their old stove or new stove. Manufacturers are not allowed to sell non-compliant stoves. Stores cannot re-sell non-compliant stoves. Anybody can go buy a stove, anytime.

If you are in the construction permitting process, I suspect a new stove installation must be compliant. Permits are a PITA and expensive, I'll agree with that!

But they are NOT BANNING woodstoves.

That may be the title, but the thread is under "Rural Living"....
