If I had temps that low in the winter I would change my 5w40 synthetic to 0w40 synthetic in the fall and swap it back in the spring. JMO..

Do you store your tractor in a heated building? or plan to use an engine heater? Im sure you would be fine with the 5w40 if you do either or both

Do you plan cold/hard start at -30 to -60? I would be concerned with the hydro fluid at those temps.

Last winter I ran my little XJ which is stored in a wood fire heated garage with engine heater. I was pushing snow in 0°f temps for an hour or two and the hydro fluid never even got warm! The tractor didnt want to push that cold fluid very well... and if you have an HST, cold fluid sure makes some noise!

Going to figure out some sort of heater for it this year

No need to swap it out. Use 0w40 year round. If you can find 0w30 diesel oil, you could use it year round.

Look into Shell Rotella T6 5W40 synthetic, it works very well for low temperature and year-round use.

I would ask the service department before hand. I wanted to use full synthetic in my tractor as soon as I bought it and the service dept told me not to until I had 125 hours because the valves seat better with conventional oils, don't know how true it is but I took there advise..
