Engine Manufacturer?

Since my last post I have racked up another 50+ hours, mostly pulling saw logs for my bandsaw mill. The Bobcat tractors are very well made, comparatively to Kubota I really appreciate the extra weight, in some application (bush hogging) which I don't do I think the extra weight might be a hinderance. The ct335 can easily pull 2 17' long 20" pine logs over some pretty uneven ground, after breaking my winch cable several times I have decided that 1 log going slightly faster (mid range 2-3-4 gear) results in just as much wood by the end of the day.

As of right now I have around 4000bf of pine pulled out in just a little over 2 days, plus some firewood. As of late the 4+ feet of snow has made going pretty slow. Even with the R4 tires and good chains I was able to keep my twitch trail open with 30" of fresh powder.

The changes I would like would be slightly larger front tires, rear wheel weights (I don't need more weight with the backhoe but could use the extra weight pushing snow in the winter) & a hydro shuttle shift.

I originally had planned on using the tractor for a year or sell and upgrading however the more I use it the more I like it. If a clean ct450 came for sale locally I would'nt hesitate to move up. The backhoe is small but very useful.

I love it. It's the nicest tractor I have ever owned. Such an ease to operate. It is my first Hydro static tractor and I can't believe how easy it is to operate. This is quite a strong little tractor I have found that it is the perfect size for my uses.

I would like to try a hydro tractor, its seems for loader work and close quarter stuff the hydro is far superior, however it seems with a gear shift one can run the engine at much lower RPMS. What rpm do you operate at with your hydro tman?

Yes that is a nice thing about gear drive. It's worth the trade off for me It just depends on what I'm doing. For most stuff no less than 1800 rpm. But I normally hover around 2000 rpm unless I need max power or if I'm running pto implements. 540 pto rpm is some where around24-2500 rpm if I remember correctly.

I have only run one larger hydro, it was a kubota around 50hp, nice smooth tractor with the ability to move forward and back with great control. The one thing I did not care for was the RPM's, dragging wood I am glad I have a SST, while loading the sawmill I wish I had a HST.

The newer Daedong hydrostats, the manufacture of both the Kioti and its white brother the Bobcat have a "linked" pedal" arrangement so that you can run the throttle at a low level and when you step on the hydro pedal it will rev up the engine. The Grand L Kubota's and some JD's have had this for some time. and the new NX series Kioti's have this now. My Kioti DK35se , the orange brother to the Bobcat CT335 does not have this, so I often change the throttle setting according to the power needed.

When did Bobcat stop making tractors? My local Kubota/Doosan/Bobcat dealer has dozens of Bobcat tractors(which for some reason they don't seem too concerned about selling).I was told they are no longer made.

IF you are talking about Bobcat "compacts"? Bobcat never did make them, They bought them already painted in Bobcat colors...
