Kubota M5400
I was looking in the Wix filter site for filters for my M5400. They list two engines for the M5400, the F2803 and the V3300. My tractor is used and I bought a used manual for it from another source which says that the 4700 and the 5400 have an F2803. The larger three tractors in that series, the 6800, the 8200 and 9000 (think that's right) have the V3300 engine. What I want to know is did Kubota build some M5400s with the V3300 engine in them and if so how can I tell which engine is in mine?

I don't have a clue. But, the engine model number is often stamped into the engine somewhere or on a data plate.

You might need a bottle of "simple green" to find it.

The F-2803 is a 5 cylinder and the V-3300 is a 4 cylinder so that tell you which engine you have. All my info shows the M-5400 to have the F-2803. The model# and serial will be stamped on the block.

All Kubota's are nice running and the five cylinder is so smooth!

I'm pretty sure the 5-cylinder F2803 engine is used in all of the M4700, M4900, M5400 and M5700's . It was also used in the L5450. It's a great engine. The M6800 has the larger-bore 4-cylinder V3300 engine.
