What is the best way to break in the engine? The manual is useless. I have a 2615 gear.

Thanks
Joel

My Mahindra did not come with any specific instructions either, but my Allis and my past experience with diesels suggests the following:
1. As soon as you have oil pressure, increase the throttle to bring the engine up to 1000-1100 rpm to reduce condensation wear with a "fast warmup."
2. Operate the tractor under light load (such as driving out to a field in H2 or H3) until the engine reaches operating temperature.
3. Do not fully load the engine (but operate at rated RPM) for the first 50 hours, staying with up to 50% power usage.
4. Perform the 50 hour oil and filter change to remove wear debris that accumulates in a new engine.
5. During the next 50 hours follow 1 & 2 (they are best for the engine anytime) but slowly increase the power demand to 100% for short periods.
6. Never "lug" an engine, but especially not during the break-in period. Continuous usage should not exceed about 80% of full load to allow for some reserve power for obstructions, heavier load on machine, etc.

Other components (clutch, brakes, etc) will benefit from "gentle" use during this time as well. Of course, lubricate (grease) at approriate intervals, and check all bolts for tightness periodically -- frequently at the beginning.

I couldn't understand the what manual was instructing as break in procedures so I called the dealer who in turn called Mahindra. Basically they said to use it hard after the engine had reached operational temperature. He said "full throttle" was correct. I followed instructions although it was uncomfortable for me mentally.

Well we worked it yesterday- 16 yrds of 3/8 pea stone gravel in 2 hrs- worked great:D

Has anyone put a turn down on the exhaust so the exhaust doesn't come back at you?
